Based in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, Hood River Yacht Club is a friendly group of sailors and boaters who enjoy sailing, racing, windsurfing, kiteboarding and pretty much anything else you can do on the water. The club helps sponsor a junior program and adult learn-to-sail classes as well as other community events. Here in the Gorge, we enjoy sailing in a wide variety of wind and water conditions, from gentle summer evening breezes to epic nuclear blowouts and everything in between. Bring your foulies and a sense of adventure and come sail with us!
Monday, September 7

Each year 500 swimmers board the Sternwheeler paddle boat at dawn on Labor Day

to ferry across the river and swim the channel. Boaters of all stripes create a picket line

to keep swimmers in the channel. Participating watercraft often 'raft up'

on the Bingen sidethe night before for pre-swim festivities.

Join the fun!

Congratulations to HRYC member Stan Perkins

& daughter Kerry Halliburton for their 2014 win

in the Pacific Cup Double Handed Yacht Race !

Stan & Kerry earned Best Prepared Yacht  trophy by demonstrating careful, thoughtful, and seamanlike preparation. Perkins and Halliburton double-handed the 2070-mile race from SFO-Hawaii aboard his Santa Cruz 27 Mirage this past July. He said he'd been preparing for this race ever since Kerry was 4, when she wrote a story about sailing across the ocean with her dad.
